This Forest Schools First Aid Course: Is tailored towards Forest School leaders, and covers the unique professional requirements of Forest School workers. It is based on the 16-hour Outdoor First Aid course but is specifically designed for Forest School practitioners.

Forest School First Aid (16 Hours)
The two-day 16-hour Forest School First Aid course is an outdoor first aid course designed for dealing with children from 1 year of age upwards and includes the potential illnesses and injuries of young children as well as those of adult helpers.
Learning Outcomes:
Emergency First Aid in the Workplace (Unit 1)
1. Understand the role and responsibility of a First Aider in the Outdoor Environment.
2. Be able to assess an incident.
3. Be able to manage a casualty who is unresponsive and NOT breathing normally.
4. Be able to provide First Aid to an unresponsive and breathing normally casualty
5. Be able to manage a casualty who is in seizure
6. Be able to recognise and assist a casualty who is choking
7. Manage a casualty with external bleeding
8. Manage a casualty who is in shock
9. Understand how to manage a casualty with a minor injury
10. Now how to provide first aid to a casualty affected by the immersion of water
Recognition and Management of Illness and Injury in the Workplace (Unit 2)
11. Identify the signs, symptoms and history of a casualty
12. Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with injuries to bones, muscles and joints
13. Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with suspected head and spinal injuries
14. Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with suspected chest injury
15. Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with burns and scalds
16. Be able to deal with a casualty with conditions affecting the eyes, ears and nose
17. Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with sudden poisoning
18. Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with anaphylaxis
19. Be able to administer first aid to a casualty who has been bitten or stung
20. Know how to provide First Aid to a casualty who is experiencing the effects of heat or cold
21. Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with suspected major illness
